First aid staffing is driven by your event risk assessment, not a single number. The Purple Guide and HSG195 provide modelling tables, but they assume the assessor has scored crowd, weather, alcohol and event type appropriately.

Typical staffing benchmarks

As a rough indication only:

• Up to 500 attendees: 2 first aiders
• 500-1,000: 4 first aiders
• 1,000-3,000: 6+ responders with a team leader
• 3,000-10,000: paramedic-led team plus ambulance
• 10,000+: clinical lead, treatment centre and multiple ambulances
